World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined over 50 million spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total American average was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
