Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Success also means he has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a close final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
